Welcome to the chaperone sign up for the first grade field trip!
On Friday, November 11th, the first grade students, faculty, and accompanying chaperones will be heading to ‘Sweetwater Farm’. Sweetwater Farm, located in Tampa, is dedicated to hosting “visitors of all ages in discovering the wonders of nature, exploring ecological interconnections, practicing appropriate land stewardship and mastering sustainable agriculture techniques.”

When:
Friday, November 11th, from 8:30AM - 12:30PM (students will be back on the LD campus by 1PM). Students should arrive as normal for morning school arrival and will depart school as normal for afternoon dismissal. Students will ride on a bus along with faculty to the location of the field trip.
Where:
Sweetwater Farm is located at 6942 W Comanche Ave, Tampa, FL 33634.
What to Bring / How to Prepare:
Students may wear non SJE uniform clothing on this day. Comfortable clothing for the farm field trip is suggested.
Students must wear closed toe shoes (as part of normal ‘day to day’ dress code).
Students MUST bring a snack, packed lunch, and water bottle from home. There is a covered storage section at the facility for student lunches, so students may (and are encouraged) to bring their lunch boxes (with insulation and an ice pack) as well as their water bottles. Students will bring their lunch boxes and water bottles with them on the bus. A plastic bag or paper bag lunch is not required.
Please be sure to apply sunscreen on your child(ren) before arriving at school.
Hats, sunglasses, etc are all permissible.
Phones and smart watches are not permissible for students. Chaperones will be taking pictures of the events of the day for the class books, yearbook, etc.
Students will also be making a ‘salad’ to share with each other during lunch time. If your child(ren) has any allergies that would be impacted by this event, please reach out to your child(ren)’s homeroom teacher prior to November 11th.
Chaperones will drive directly to Sweetwater Farm on November 11th and meet the first grade students and faculty at the facility. Chaperones may have their own child accompany them in the car when driving over as well as depart in turn with their child. Student friends or peers may not, unfortunately, accompany chaperones in cars to or from the field trip.
